Yes, this is a bit nuts, but here is My Final Frisbee Free Giveaway. To promote Bess Streeter Aldrich’s novels, I am giving away a paperback copy of her charming novel, The Lieutenant’s Lady (Bison Books, University of Nebraska Press, 1987). This romantic novel, set partly in Omaha, partly in the northern territory of Nebraska, tells the story of Linnie on a visit to relatives in Omaha. Her cousin. Cynthia, a flirt, decides to jilt her fiance, a lieutenant stationed on the Missouri River (out of sight, out of mind). And Linnie, who thinks it would be terrible for him to receive the news by letter, travels up the Missouri to deliver the news in person, suffering considerable hardships on the way.
I bought a first edition yesterday (well, I was at the Bess Streeter Aldrich House and Museum), so I don’t need the paperback.
Leave your comment if you want the book and I’ll announce the winner tomorrow night. If you’re the only one to sign up, it’s yours! Otherwise I’ll draw names out of a hat.
I hope someone wants this!
